DTN Closing Grain Comments 01/30 13:54 Wheat Markets Firm, Corn and Soy Markets Tumble as Weather Continues to Drive Trade Ag markets were mixed Thursday with corn and soy taking a step back after strong moves higher Wednesday, mostly due to a slightly improved Argentine forecast over the next two weeks, as well as mostly stable conditions reported this week for Argentine corn and soybeans. Wheat markets enjoyed a day as the grain complex's bright spot, pushing higher on ongoing Black Sea concerns. Outside markets Thursday were mostly supportive, with equities higher following decent GDP growth for the fourth quarter of 2024, which capped 2024 in whole as a steady growth year for the economy despite a slightly slower pace than 2023. The U.S. Dollar Index was weaker Thursday, while gold futures hit all-time highs Thursday. Rhett Montgomery DTN Lead Analyst GENERAL COMMENTS: March corn closed down 6 3/4 cents and May corn was down 6 cents. March soybeans closed down 16 1/2 cents and May soybeans were down 15 1/2 cents.
