DTN Early Word Grains 01/28 05:49 Grain Markets Mixed as Traders Assess South American Weather, Potential Tariffs March corn is up 1 cent per bushel, March soybeans are down 1 3/4 cents, March KC wheat is up 1/2 cent, March Chicago wheat is up 2 1/2 cents and March Minneapolis wheat is up 1 1/2 cents. Kent Beadle, DTN Contributing Analyst EARLY MORNING GLOBEX NET CHANGES: March corn is up 1 cent per bushel, March soybeans are down 1 3/4 cents, March KC wheat is up 1/2 cent, March Chicago wheat is up 2 1/2 cents and March Minneapolis wheat is up 1 1/2 cents. CME GLOBEX RECAP: World equity markets are mixed but mostly higher in the aftermath of Monday's tech stock and energy stock sell-off that was driven by news that a Chinese AI firm had produced an open-source AI model that worked as well or better than Chat GPT while using much less computing power. Traders are looking under the cover of this application Tuesday morning, and tech stocks are rebounding modestly. Traders will also be looking toward the Federal Reserve meeting that starts Tuesday, with the highlight being Fed Chairman Powell's press conference Wednesday afternoon. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes Monday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average up 289.33 at 44,713.58 and the S&P 500 down 88.96 at 6,012.28. The 10-Year Treasury yield ended at 4.528%. Early Tuesday, the March Dow Jones Futures are down 2 points. European markets are higher with the spot futures of London's FTSE 100 trading up 0.56%, spot futures of Germany's DAX is trading up 0.64% and the spot futures of France's CAC 40 Index up 0.37%. Asian markets are mixed with Japan's Nikkei 225 Index down 1.39% and China's Shanghai Composite Index is steady.
