DTN Early Word Grains 01/27 05:49 Grain Markets Lower on Trade Concerns Due to Threats of Tariffs on Columbia, Canada, and Mexico March corn is down 3 1/2 cents per bushel, March soybeans are down 5 1/4 cents, March KC wheat is down 1/2 cent, March Chicago wheat is down 1 3/4 cents and March Minneapolis wheat is steady. Kent Beadle, DTN Contributing Analyst EARLY MORNING GLOBEX NET CHANGES: March corn is down 3 1/2 cents per bushel, March soybeans are down 5 1/4 cents, March KC wheat is down 1/2 cent, March Chicago wheat is down 1 3/4 cents and March Minneapolis wheat is steady. CME GLOBEX RECAP: World equity markets are lower Monday morning as traders assess the impact of less efficient world trade due to the increased rhetoric from the Trump administration regarding tariffs. There are reports some of the President's advisors are pushing for the President to move quicker and proactively on tariffs, instead of using them as a negotiating ploy has equity markets on the defensive. This is a more active week of data releases, and we also have a Federal Reserve meeting on Tuesday and Wednesday, with Chairman Powell's press conference likely to be the highlight. Traders are not expecting a change in rates at this meeting. Important data points this week include new home sales on Monday, durable goods and consumer confidence on Tuesday, the advanced trade balance and advanced inventories on Wednesday, GDP and jobless claims on Thursday, and the important PCE data on Friday. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes Friday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average down 140.82 at 44,424.25 and the S&P 500 down 17.47 at 6,101.24. The 10-Year Treasury yield ended at 4.626%. Early Monday, the March Dow Jones Futures are down 395 points. European markets are lower with the spot futures of London's FTSE 100 trading down 0.12%, spot futures of Germany's DAX is trading down 1.22% and the spot futures of France's CAC 40 Index down 0.89%. Asian markets are lower with Japan's Nikkei 225 Index down 0.92% and China's Shanghai Composite Index down 0.06%.
