DTN Early Word Grains 01/16 05:42 Grain Markets Mixed; Corn Lower on USDA Follow-Through With Beans Higher on Further Brazilian Production Downgrades March corn is down 2 1/2 cents per bushel, March soybeans are up 6 1/4 cents, March KC wheat is up 1 3/4 cents, March Chicago wheat is up 1/2 cent and March Minneapolis wheat is down 1/4 cent. Kent Beadle, DTN Contributing Analyst EARLY MORNING GLOBEX NET CHANGES: March corn is down 2 1/2 cents per bushel, March soybeans are up 6 1/4 cents, March KC wheat is up 1 3/4 cents, March Chicago wheat is up 1/2 cent and March Minneapolis wheat is down 1/4 cent. CME GLOBEX RECAP: World equity markets are mixed Tuesday morning, with Europe and the U.S. lower while Asia tracks slightly higher. Friday was also a mixed day in the U.S. as the S&P rallied slightly while the Dow closed lower. PPI data last Friday was more in line with expectations than was the CPI data, and that relaxed interest rates which helped tech stocks rally and pulled the broader S&P 500 back above unchanged. This week, we will have several new economic data points. On Wednesday, we have Retail Sales, Industrial Production, and Business Inventories. Thursday is Housing Starts along with the weekly Jobless Claims. Friday brings existing Home Sales and Consumer Sentiment. The Agricultural data this week will show most reports delayed by a day due to the holiday. Export Inspections will come Tuesday morning as will the December NOPA crush. Thursday will bring ethanol production estimates, and Friday will give U.S. export sales. Friday will also bring a new Cattle on Feed report, and a USDA outlook for Livestock, Dairy, and Poultry. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes Friday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average down 118.04 at 37,592.98 and the S&P 500 up 3.59 at 4,783.83, The 10-Year Treasury yield ended at 3.95%. Early Tuesday, the March Dow Jones Futures are down 164 points. European markets are mixed/higher/lower with the spot futures of London's FTSE 100 trading down 0.42%, spot futures of Germany's DAX is trading down 0.59% and the spot futures of France's CAC 40 Index down 0.42%. Asian markets are mixed/higher/lower with Japan's Nikkei 225 Index up 0.91% and China's Shanghai Composite Index up 0.15%.
