DTN Closing Grain Comments 12/28 13:43 Wheat Rises on Weak Dollar; Corn, Soybeans, Products Slide on Brazil Rain Forecast Early strength in corn and soybeans failed to hold as improving rain chances for the driest areas of Brazil sent markets lower. Wheat, led by spec-heavy Chicago, rose on fund short-covering and the weaker trend in the U.S. dollar. Dana Mantini Senior Market Analyst GENERAL COMMENTS: March corn closed down 2 1/4 cents per bushel, March soybeans finished down 8 1/2 cents per bushel. March KC wheat was up 8 3/4 cents per bushel, March Chicago wheat fell 8 1/2 cents per bushel and March Minneapolis wheat finished up 3 3/4 cents. The March U.S. Dollar Index is trading up 0.296 at 100.950. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is up 91.72 points at 37,748.24. February gold is down $14.10 at $2,079.00, March silver is down $0.39 at $24.26 and March copper is down $0.0430 at $3.9165. February crude oil is down $2.19 at $71.92, February heating oil is down $0.0535, February RBOB is down $0.0589 and February natural gas is up $0.119.
