DTN Closing Grain Comments 05/04 13:49 Wheat Markets Extend Recovery; Corn, Soybean New Crop Finish Lower On a day of slow but volatile trade, wheat futures moved higher for the second straight day. KC July and fund short-covering led the way. Also rising tensions in Ukraine likely driving the strength. Corn, soybeans, and soymeal all traded lower early, with July meal hitting the lowest level since December 2022. July corn and soybeans finished near unchanged, with new-crop months lower. Dana Mantini Senior Market Analyst GENERAL COMMENTS: July corn closed up 1/2 cent per bushel (bu) at $5.89 and December corn was down 2 cents at $5.29. July soybeans closed up 1/4 cent at $14.18 and November soybeans were down 3 3/4 cents at $12.69. July KC wheat closed up 13 1/4 cents at $7.98, July Chicago wheat was up 5 1/4 cents at $6.45 and July Minneapolis wheat was up 9 1/2 cents at $8.13.
