DTN Early Word Grains 01/31 05:52 Grains Higher on Final Session of January March corn is up 4 1/4 cents per bushel, March soybeans are up 20 3/4 cents, and March KC wheat is up 9 1/2 cents. Tregg Cronin DTN Contributing Analyst Pre-6 a.m. Globex Prices: March corn is up 4 1/4 cents per bushel, March soybeans are up 20 3/4 cents, and March KC wheat is up 9 1/2 cents. CME Globex Recap: Equities are mixed to higher around the globe overnight, although U.S. futures are posting losses early Monday morning. The situation in Ukraine should be frontpage news again this week with various Congressional committees receiving briefings on the matter later Monday. Energy markets are higher overnight with spot WTI crude oil futures up over 1.0% but just below the highs posted Friday. Natural gas is sharply higher overnight, up 6.3% and was up over $5.00 at one point Sunday evening. The U.S. Dollar Index is weaker overnight and just below the multi-year highs posted last week. Metals are higher overnight, led by silver which is up almost 1.0%. Grains are higher across the board with the soy complex leading strength. South American forecasts will once again grab attention along with developments in the Black Sea. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes on Friday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average up 564.69 at 34,725.47 and the S&P 500 up 105.34 at 4,326.51 while the 10-Year Treasury yield ended at 1.782%. Early Monday, the March DJIA futures are down 119 points. Asian markets are mixed with Japan's Nikkei 225 up 284.64 (1.07%) and China's Shanghai Composite down 32.81 points (-0.97%). European markets are higher with London's FTSE 100 down 0.05 points (-0.01%), Germany's DAX up 150.63 points (0.98%) and France's CAC 40 up 32.07 points (0.46%). The March Euro is up 0.003 at 1.120 and the March U.S. dollar index is down 0.241 at 97.025. The March 30-Year T-Bond is down 9/32nds, while February gold is up $3.90 at $1,788.80 and March crude oil is up $0.94 at $87.76. Dalian commodity markets were closed.
