CME Globex Recap: Early Wednesday, Dow Jones futures are a little lower, staying near its lowest prices of January with ongoing concerns about inflation and higher interest rates ahead. Late Wednesday, the Federal Reserve said it is on track to stop making monthly bond purchases by early March and that it will soon be appropriate to raise the federal funds target rate, as many expected. Several media sources reported the U.S. responded to Russia's demand and will not ban Ukraine from joining NATO as Russia wants. Late Wednesday, AP reported representatives from Russia, Ukraine, France and Germany expressed support for a ceasefire in eastern Ukraine and agreed to meet again in two weeks. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes Wednesday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average down 129.64 at 34,168.09 and the S&P 500 down 6.52 at 4,349.93 as the 10-Year Treasury yield increased to 1.85%. Early Thursday, March Dow Jones futures are trading down 15 points. Asian markets are lower with Japan's Nikkei 225 index down 3.11% and China's Shanghai Composite Index down 1.78%. European markets are mixed with the spot futures of the London FTSE 100 trading up 0.28%, spot futures of Germany's DAX trading down 0.44% and spot futures of France's CAC Index trading down 0.09%. The March euro is down $0.0059 at $1.1206. The March U.S. Dollar Index is up 0.42 at 96.82. The March 30-year T-bond is up 7/32nds, while February gold is down $14.00 at $1,815.70 and March crude oil is up $0.12 at $87.47. On China's Dalian exchange, May corn was up 0.1%, March soybeans were up 2.6%, May soybean meal was up 2.2% and May soybean oil was up 1.8%. March Malaysian palm oil is trading up 2.1%.
