DTN Closing Grain Comments 01/27 13:45 Soybeans Surge on Falling South American Crop Ideas; Wheat Extends Losses Spot March and new-crop November soybean futures each scored new contract highs Thursday with March rising to the highest level since August 2021. Soybean oil also scored a new high, helped by the crude oil market, which had eclipsed $88 per barrel. Wheat futures closed sharply lower again on a slight easing of the Russia-Ukraine conflict and beneficial moisture in the Southern Plains. Dana Mantini Senior Market Analyst GENERAL COMMENTS: March corn closed down 1 3/4 cents per bushel and December corn was down 6 cents. March soybeans closed up 8 1/4 cents and November soybeans were up 4 cents. March KC wheat closed down 22 1/4 cents, March Chicago wheat was down 18 cents and March Minneapolis wheat was down 13 cents. The March U.S. Dollar Index is trading up 0.815 at 97.215. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is down 87.70 points at 34,080.39. February gold is down $35.90 at $1,793.80, March silver is down $1.11 at $22.70 and March copper is down $0.1040 at $4.4110. March crude oil is down $0.60 at $86.75, March heating oil is up $0.0274, March RBOB is down $0.0001 and March natural gas is up $0.269.
