DTN Early Word Grains 01/05 05:20 Mixed Trade in Grains at Midweek March corn is down 1 1/2 cents per bushel, March soybeans are up 2 1/2 cents, and March KC wheat is down 8 cents. Tregg Cronin DTN Contributing Analyst Pre-6 a.m. Globex Prices: March corn is down 1 1/2 cents per bushel, March soybeans are up 2 1/2 cents, and March KC wheat is down 8 cents. CME Globex Recap: Mixed to higher trade in equity markets around the globe overnight with U.S. futures posting small gains. Wednesday will see the release of the latest minutes from last month's Federal Reserve meeting. Investors are hoping to glean clues about when and how quickly the Fed plans to start extracting liquidity from the market. The yield on the 10-year treasury remains near a six-week high. Energy futures are slightly lower overnight but mainly rangebound for the last six to seven sessions. The U.S. Dollar Index is weaker, but again, well inside the range present for the last several weeks. Metals are mixed with copper off 0.74% while gold and silver trade higher. Grain markets are mixed with corn and wheat lower while the soy complex is also mixed with soybeans and oil higher while meal trades lower. Wheat markets look especially vulnerable to additional weakness if row crops aren't going to do the heavy lifting to the upside. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes on Tuesday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average up 214.59 at 36,799.65 and the S&P 500 down 3.02 at 4,796.56 while the 10-Year Treasury yield ended at 1.668%. Early Wednesday, the March DJIA futures are up 27 points. Asian markets are mixed with Japan's Nikkei 225 up 30.37 (0.1%) and China's Shanghai Composite down 37.15 points (-1.02%). European markets are higher with London's FTSE 100 up 20.05 points (0.27%), Germany's DAX up 81.83 points (0.51%) and France's CAC 40 up 28.11 points (0.38%). The March Euro is up 0.002 at 1.130 and the March U.S. dollar index is down 0.179 at 96.095. The March 30-Year T-Bond is up 14/32nds, while February gold is up $5.80 at $1,820.40 and February crude oil is down $0.12 at $76.87. Soybeans on China's Dalian Exchange were up 1.47% while soybean meal was up 1.73% and corn was up 0.33%.
