A light trade is being reported in parts of the North at $180 to $181, about $3 to $4 lower than last week's weighted average basis Nebraska. Some asking prices remain firm around $112 plus on a live basis, and $185 plus dressed. Today's slaughter totaled 121,000 head even with last week, but 1,000 more than a year ago. Cattle futures closed mostly moderately lower (off 32 to 92) on live issues and mostly sharply lower on feeder contracts (off 95 to 182). Beef cutouts are expected to close higher with generally light box movement.
