Basis on soft white has continued to firm, gaining nearly 20 cents the past week and moving to 153 over Chicago, but flat prices have still drifted more than 30 cents from recent highs. Basis on hard red winter and springs have only firmed about a nickel against declines in respective futures markets. Extreme cold weather across the Pacific Northwest has thus far had minimal crop impact as the majority of winter wheat zones have good snow cover. Shipments...Weekly export inspections showed a big week for shipments of wheat off U.S. ports, coming near the top end for the year. Loadings of 25 mb bumped total U.S. wheat exports to 604 mb, which now stands 8% behind a year ago. Top shipper for the week was white wheat with 8.3 mb, follwwed by hard red winter with 8.1 mb and hard red spring loading 5.1 mb. Top destinations off the west coast ports were the Philippines with 5.9 mb, followed by Yemen with 5 mb. -Norm Ruhoff Contributing Analyst Copyright 2019 DTN/Telvent. All Rights Reserved.
