DTN Early Word Grains 01/10 05:48 Quiet, Mixed Grains as Traders Await China Rumor Confirmation March corn up 1/4 cent, March soybeans down 1/4 cent, and March KC Wheat down 1 1/4 cent. By Tregg Cronin DTN Contributing Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: March corn up 1/4 cent, March soybeans down 1/4 cent, and March KC Wheat down 1 1/4 cent. CME Globex Recap: A softer tone to global equity markets this morning as some of the shine from the trade talks fades until more concrete measures are announced. With the Federal Reserve taking a more dovish stance in their latest minutes, investors are debating whether this means more cheap money or whether growth concerns are well-founded. Grains are mixed to weaker this morning as the rumors of Chinese purchases aren't enough to rally on every day. Traders should be getting used to markets without the USDA as the government shutdown doesn't look to be anywhere close to over. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes on Wednesday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average up 91.67 at 23,879.12 and the S&P 500 up 10.55 at 2,584.96 while the 10-yr Treasury yield ended at 2.694%. Early Thursday, DJIA futures are down 116.00 points. Asian markets are lower with Japan's Nikkei 225 down 263.26 (-1.29%) and China's Shanghai Composite down 9.25 points (-0.36%). European markets are lower with London's FTSE 100 down 10.52 points (-0.15%), Germany's DAX down 40.42 points (-0.37%), and France's CAC 40 down 32.77 points (-0.68%). The euro was down 0.00205 at 1.15285 and the U.S. dollar index was up 0.2100 at 95.3470. March 30-year T-Bonds were up 10/32nds while February gold was up $0.40 at $1292.50 and February crude oil was down $0.20 at $52.47. Soybeans on China's Dalian Exchange closed up 0.06% while soymeal closed down 0.04%.
