DTN Closing Livestock Comment 08/21 16:08 Commodities Collapse as Wall Street Plunges Lower Meat futures closed sharply lower, pressured by aggressive long liquidation and bearish outside markets. Several feeder cattle contracts finished limit down. By John Harrington DTN Livestock Analyst GENERAL COMMENTS: From Friday to Friday livestock futures scored the following Changes: Aug LC, Off 3.03; Oct LC, Off 3.00; Aug FC, Off 1.90; Sep FC, Off 7.20; Oct LH Off 2.53, and Dec LH off 2.97. Light to moderate trading developed in the Southern tier of feedlot country late this week. Most live sales were marked at $147, $3 lower than last week basis Kansas. According to the closing report, the Iowa hog base is $0.52 lower compared with the Prior Day settlement ($66.00-$76.00, weighted average $74.98). Corn closed 5 3/4 cents lower in the September and 5 1/4 cents lower in the December. The Dow collapsed by more than 530 points, closing at down 3.1% on Friday.
