DTN Early Word Grains 08/20 06:03 Dangling Dollar, Sinking Soybeans December corn was 2 cents higher, November soybeans were 4 cents lower, and December Chicago wheat was 1 cent higher. By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: December corn was 2 cents higher, November soybeans were 4 cents lower, and December Chicago wheat was 1 cent higher. CME Globex Recap: The U.S. dollar index continues to dangle over its 4-week low of 95.926, posting a low of 96.350 overnight. Pressure continues to come from Wednesday's Fed notes that indicated no rush to raise Fed fund rates. This helped to spark buying interest most grains and metals, with the soy complex continuing to sink. Energies were also posting solid losses again early Thursday. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 162.61 points lower Wednesday at 17,348.73. Asian markets were lower with the Nikkei down 189.11 points at 20,033.52. China's Shanghai Composite was down 129.82 points. European markets were also lower. The U.S. dollar index was 0.041 lower at 96.308. Crude oil was $0.50 lower at $40.30 while Brent crude was $0.73 lower at $46.43. December gold was $10.60 higher at $1,138.50. Soybeans at the Dalian Exchange were lower while Malaysian palm oil futures were also lower.
