More trade should develop throughout the later part of the week, but Wednesday's movement was significant. One of the most frustrating reasons why it's disappointing to see cattle trade this early in the week is because of how aggressive slaughter speeds are. In no time at all packers are going to need cattle to replenish the supplies that they have vigorously worked through in the last two weeks. This week's kill is again projected to be a big, pushing close to 660,000 head. Seeing that a big movement of cattle have already traded in both the North and the South means that trade will mostly continue in these price ranges throughout the week. 5-AREA LV STR AVG(FOB)PR&WT:$113.89(1543) HIDE&OFFAL: $9.78 Unchg CARCASS EQV INDEX CHOICE (600-900#) SELECT (600-900#) #OF HD LIVE BASED $169.71 $157.15 64,808 BOX BASED $221.03 $212.24 35,060 AVE INDEX $195.37 -0.81 $184.70 -0.95 100,230 BEEF CUTOUTS CHOICE (600-900#) SELECT (600-900#) $233.03 -1.65 $224.24 -1.93 68.24 LDS CH CUTS / 18.44 LDS SEL CUTS / 19.87 LDS TRIM / 13.58 LDS GROUND BOXED BEEF TREND: Not available due to changes on USDA reports COMPREHENSIVE WEEKLY CUTOUT VALUE: Week ending 02/26 $234.32 +2.28 CUTTER 90% 350# UP C/O: $187.87 -0.60 NAT'L BONELESS BF TRIM: 13.44 lds / Unevenly lower on greater offers & dem 90% TRIM: 13 lds: Wtd Avg $232.72 / Generally higher FI KILL(WTD) WED 121(364) WK AGO 121(362) YR AGO 122(369) MIX: TUE SH96/CB27 WEEKLY CANADIAN CATTLE IMPORTS.
