DTN Closing Livestock Comment 01/08 16:04 Cattle Contracts Take Wednesday Feeder cattle contracts had a midmorning burst Wednesday that kicked both cattle contracts into trading higher throughout closing. By ShayLe Stewart DTN Livestock Analyst GENERAL COMMENTS: Lean hogs had a tough day subsiding to let cattle contracts trade higher and realizing until next Wednesday (the signing of the phase one trade agreement) the lean hog market may very well sit quiet. Hog prices are lower on the National Direct Afternoon Hog Report, down $0.40 with a weighted average of $50.55. March corn is down 1/4 cent per bushel and March soybean meal is up $0.50. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is up 161.85 points and NASDAQ is up 60.66 points.
